I am a professional leadership and life coach with decades of experience serving and supporting leaders in their development. A lifetime educator, my journey began in the schools of Mt. Vernon, NY where I attended public schools, before becoming a substitute teacher during my college breaks. I attended Syracuse University (BA, Psychology and African-American Studies) and Cornell University (Master of Professional Studies, Africana Studies) before focusing my passions for change, transformation, and community uplift to be a Washington, DC Public School middle school teacher of Writing, Social Studies, and African-American history. Seeking to make an even greater impact on my community and the world, I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration (Trinity University, DC) and served as a school principal for many years in Washington, DC; Durant, MS; and Capitol Heights, MD.
I’ve held numerous senior leadership roles for educational nonprofit organizations and am an alum of Teach For America (’98) and New Leaders for New Schools (’04). Before becoming a consultant and starting my own business, I spent over four years teaching about the impacts of trauma on the developing brain and helping educators redesign learning environments and systems to address the holistic needs of the learner.
At the height of the global pandemic, I realized that although I’d spent my professional life teaching and holding space for others, I had not yet fully created the space, intention, or skill to be able to authentically hold space for myself. I began a search for tools to increase my own self-awareness, self-regulation and holistic health. This led me on a journey where I discovered Kemetic Yoga, an African based practice of holistic personal and spiritual development. I have been practicing Kemetic Yoga since 2021 and traveled to Kemit (Egypt) in December 2021 as part of my certification process. I discovered a few months later, following an unexplained traumatic cervical injury and MRI diagnosis, that my knowledge and practice of Kemetic Yoga would serve to save my life. When countless doctors were unable to provide any remedy to my intense and ongoing pain and suffering beyond surgery, repeated epidural injections or unproven experimental remedies, I utilized the power of breath as the primary tool to heal my body. From the depths of my own suffering came the most powerful blessing of my life- learning I had the inherent ability to heal myself if I only allow this ongoing pathway to my healing and restoration.
You are already a complete.
You already have the answers you seek.
I am honored to hold space for others to be the best version of themselves.
Kemetic Yoga, including meditation and breath-work, teach me how to hold space for my intentional growth, development, and healing. I utilitize these practices to help others approach their lives and work with intentionality and care.
